Dicky Dikamba
Executive Director

Dicky Dikamba is the founder of CANAVUA and has been its Executive Director since 2009. Born in the Democratic Republic of Congo, he has lived in Tours, France, and moved to Canada in 2008. Dicky is passionate about improving the lives of others through volunteerism, in the spirit of solidarity.

Affectionately known as: ‘Monsieur le Député,’ Dicky Dikamba is well known in Edmonton. As the Executive Director of Canadian Volunteers United in Action (CANAVUA) since its birth in 2009, Dicky has been a strong and steadfast leader in Edmontons Francophone community and beyond for the past 13 years. His commitment to build CANAVUA and to support those that are marginalized in our community is an inspiration to many. Dicky has done so much for the community with grace and without prejudice. JHC was honored to work with Dicky and his team many times over the course of the pandemic when CANAVUA was feeding hundreds of individuals and families in some of the hardest times weve ever faced. Dicky received the Queen Elizabeth jubilee medal in 2022 in recognition of his work, nominated by the Government of Alberta’s premier, Jason Kenney.

As a non-profit organization, CANAVUA is ultimately governed by a Board of Directors, elected once a year at the Annual General Meeting (AGM).
